A recast version of the Ecodesign Directive entered into force on 10 November 2009. The recast includes provisions to set requirements for energy-related products, which greatly expands the scope from the previous energy-using products.
Energy-related products can include items such as food products, building insulation and windows, clothing, and paper, among many others. The recast Directive creates a framework to analyse and regulate energy-related products in a fashion similar to the current process for energy-using products.
DG Enterprise has released a brochure that summarises the updated Directive.
